Located at the foot of the village green, the red sandstone hall is pivotal in both the architectural landscape and social life of Stenton village. With its single volume structure, slate roof and a crow step gable frontage, the hall plays an important role in fronting the village green, the children’s play park and village sports field. 

 

The hall is at the heart of the village, and has been the focal point of life here for over 100 years. It is the social meeting place and venue for the many events and activities which take place in our community. These include the Stenton Footlights drama production, the Stenton Flower Show, Stenton Gala and Christmas Fayre. Through the years the hall has played host to numerous end of term school plays, birthday parties, Burns suppers, spring lunches, ceilidhs and fundraisers.

 

In 2017 Stenton Community Association completed a major refurbishment and extension thanks to generous grant funding from the Crystal Rig Community Benefit Fund, Viridor Landfill Fund and East Lothian Council together with donations from our local community groups and residents. The community is incredibly proud of its efforts in achieving this wonderful transformational project comprising a stunning larch and glass extension area which opens out to the play-park, a new modern fully equipped kitchen, spacious gents and ladies toilets, separate disabled/baby changing toilet, disabled access and super-fast broadband.

 

Now equipped to a very high standard, we are delighted to share Stenton Village Hall with those who wish to hire her.
